Bridal MUA, Misha Vig Reveals The One Bridal Makeup Trend For 2019

100-Watt Skin

Wondering what kind of makeup to wear on your big day? A quick browse through any bridal gallery will leave you feeling more than a little perplexed. Bridal makeup trends, much like any others are rapidly evolving. It’s hard to keep a check on what’s hot and what’s not. From glittery lids to metallic lips, we’ve seen it all. But what’s the ONE makeup trend that flatters everyone? Perhaps a smokey eye? Or a nude lip? We asked bridal makeup artist Misha Vig to share that ONE makeup trend that’s taken over bridal makeup in 2019 and we should have probably seen it coming!

“Most brides today are embracing their complexion and working their way into accepting that less is more. Almost every bride I’ve met wants to look natural and airbrushed in pictures. The one trend that’s probably stood out the most in 2019 is what I like to call 100-watt skin. Glowing, luminous, glass-like skin is something that every bride desires the most. Skin that looks plump, well rested and dewy looks great in person and even better in pictures.”

Doesn’t that sound like a treat for sore eyes? Wondering how to recreate the look? Misha gives us a quick step-by-step routine to perfecting that lit-from-within glow.

“Giving the bride a luminous complexion is not restricted to the cheekbones but rather an all-over glow. Ensure not to go overboard with a highlighter, you want to look luminous and not sweaty. There’s a fine line between looking radiant and looking oily.”

Misha Loves Her 3-Step Prep:

Prepping your skin is the key to achieving that healthy glow. Start with a perfectly cleansed, toned and moisturised face for your makeup to glide over the skin like butter. Exfoliating your skin 1-2 times a week will get rid of dead skin cells and make your skin look smooth and help your moisturiser penetrate better.

Try the Lakmé Strawberry Creme Face Wash and the Lakmé Absolute Pore Fix Toner.

Hydration is key:

Before you begin to apply any makeup onto your face, you need to ensure that your skin is hydrated. A good moisturiser designed for your skin type will ensure that there are no dry patches or redness on the face.

The Lakmé Absolute Argan Oil Radiance Oil-In-Creme is deeply moisturising and will prep your skin perfectly for makeup. If you have oily, acne prone skin use a pore-filling primer like the Lakmé Absolute Blur Perfect Makeup Primer to plump up your skin, fill in any pores and leave your skin smooth.

Time To Glow!

To achieve that luminous glowing skin, Itʼs important to create the perfect canvas for your makeup to look smooth and natural. When it comes to foundation choose a liquid based foundation mixed with your favourite highlighter or strobe cream for that amazing cast of radiance. Take a little bit of the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Foundation, scrape a little bit of the lightest shade from Lakmé Absolute Highlighter Palette in Moonlit and mix it up on the palm of your hand. Apply this mix with a buffing brush evenly all over the face. Use the Lakmé Absolute Face Concealer to spot conceal areas around the nose and under the eyes.
Use a translucent powder to lightly set the foundation only on the oil-prone zones of the face. The Lakmé 9 to 5 Naturale Finishing Powder will set your makeup in place without taking away any of your natural luminosity. Follow this up with the Lakmé Absolute Highlighter in Moonlit. The key is to enhance your cheekbones and facial features in a way that looks natural and effortless. Use the highlighter with a fan brush on the highest points of your face such as the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, forehead and chin. And that’s it. You’re all set to glow through the day!
