Au contraire to a popular belief in the fashion community, Sustainable Fashion Day at the Lakme Fashion Week SR ‘19 saw some of the most amazing, off-beat and downright gorgeous eye makeup looks we’ve ever seen. While the shows were about making environmentally conscious fashion choices, the makeup was all about expressing yourself, as boldly as you possibly can. Here is what we spotted on the ramp.
Eye Got It: Pastel, Smokey And Red Eyes At LFW SR ‘19
Could lipstick like smudges actually look chic? Yes. As a panel geared up to judge the outfits made by budding designers at the Circular Design Challenge, the makeup should have had its own panel. Models had a thick smudge of red eyeshadow starting at the inner corner all the way to the end of the eye. This was interspersed with a gold liquid pigment. The eye makeup was done in a way to make it look like an effortless smudge while they were trying to achieve a rectangular block statement eyeshadow look.
The makeup artist for this one used a pigmented and slightly chalky powder lilac and powder blue eyeshadow on the entire lid. One colour was dabbed all over the lid while the edges were slightly smudged to avoid harsh lines.
For a pigmented look, wet the packing brush before picking up the pigment and to make the colour look especially poppy, prime your eyelids with a white eyeliner or eyeshadow.
A crowd favourite eye makeup look, the smokey eye got a brilliant twist from Rosario Belmonte the official makeup expert at Lakmé Fashion Week. He used two shades of blue to create this smokey eye. He started with a navy blue shade and blended it on the eyelids and into the crease. Then dabbed a lighter shade of blue in the centre of the lid for a pop of colour.
Rosario says, the trick to making this look pop is by priming your lids with a sheer vanilla colour highlighter shade so the colours look like they have a natural sheen to it as they catch the light.
