Your wedding day is the biggest, most important day of your life. Sure, your makeup artist can powder through any shine and perfect your pout on D-day, but what happens post the wedding? There comes a time in every woman’s life when she’s expected to attend hundreds of lunches and parties thrown in honour of her new marital status. All the pre and post-bridal bonding with your in-laws and their relatives can be overwhelming. So, how do you put your best face forward every single time? We asked celebrity makeup artist, Anu Kaushik to list 5 makeup products you absolutely need in your makeup bag to look amazing at every event. Stash these tiny treasures in your purse so that you never have an off day!.
1. Concealer or BB Cream
“When you’re dressed in your finest bridal trousseau, an uneven complexion can make you look tired and sallow. If you have dark circles and blemishes, concealer is your best friend. Even the tiniest stroke of concealer under your eyes can instantly take away any tiredness” says Anu. Dab a little bit of the Lakmé Absolute White Intense Liquid Concealer on the problem areas and blend it in using your fingers or a damp sponge. If you need an overall complexion-correction, try the Lakmé 9to5 Complexion Care CC Cream. It will even out your skin tone, cover any blemishes, and make you look gorgeous and well-rested.
2. Loose Powder
Use the Lakmé 9to5 Naturale Finishing Powder to minimize any shine and lock your makeup in place all day. You can even use it with a fluffy brush over your moisturiser to even out any mild skin discolourations you might have.
3. Mascara and Kohl
Anu recommends a combination of mascara and kohl to add drama to your eyes “A staple in every Indian girl’s makeup kit, a little bit of kohl goes a long way. You can use it to create an easy smokey-eye look, a winged-eye look or to simply line your eyes. What most people don’t know is that a few coats of mascara will instantly lift up your lashes, and make your eyes look bigger. Mascara is the perfect way to mask tired eyes”, says Anu.
Try the Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara in Night Drama to lengthen and darken your eyelashes. Another way to make the most of your mascara is to use it to comb through your eyebrows. It doubles up as an eyebrow tint, and fills in any gaps in your brows. Just be sure to wipe off any excess mascara on the wand with a tissue paper before you do this. If you have a light skin tone, a brown eyeliner and kohl pencil looks great on your skin, while women with medium or deep skin tones should opt for deep black eyeliner. Try the Kareena Kapoor Khan By Lakmé Absolute Eye Definer in Brass and Oynx, which are perfect for Indian skin tones
4. Lip and Cheek Tint
“A flush of colour on your lips and cheeks instantly brightens up your face and it’s the easiest way to look fresh and youthful. A multi-tasking product that does the job of a lip, cheek, and eye tint is perfect because it means carrying around less clutter in your makeup bag! A lipstick that’s long lasting will ensure that your lips always look bright and happy!” added Anu.
Try the Lakmé 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color in Blush Velvet for a subtle nude-pink flush of colour. If you want something brighter, try the Kareena Kapoor Khan By Lakmé Absolute Cheek Contour in Coral Diva.
5. A Makeup Remover
Anu strongly recommends that everyone should use a makeup remover. No matter how little makeup you wear, use an oil-based makeup remover like the Lakmé Absolute Bi-Phased Make-up Remover to cleanse your skin at the end of the day. Follow it up with a hydrating serum like the Lakmé Absolute Argan Oil Radiance Overnight Oil-in-Serum and you will wake up to happy, glowing skin day after day!
