Clothes are colourful but pale faces with a hint of lip
gloss are the look of the season. According to Make-up
expert Kapil Bhalla, the most popular fashion product
of the season is Lakme Lip Gloss. "Colour your lips
in fruity shades and add a touch of Lakme Lip Gloss for
a wet sheen ", recommends Bhalla. |
The mood's all blue this season. Line your eyes with a
thick blue pencil or go for a more subtle, pretty approach
with a shadow on both the top and the bottom lid. Makeup
guru Cory Walia elaborates: "Combine blue eye-shadow
with grey or black for a smoky look. After applying the
shadow, smudge brown kohl on the outer corners of the
eyes. Use a blue eye-liner with a hint of black."

Poker straight hair is out. Fringes are big this season,
says Damon Kidd, an international hairstylist. The fringe
that lies heavily on the forehead with an asymmetrical
cut is in vogue. A short-cropped messy hair with a fringe
also works well in Summer. Kapil Bhalla especially recommends
it to someone with a broad forehead and high cheekbones.

Oversized garments with a feminine tone are in. Flip shirts,
knits and untucked shirts are here to stay. Sabyasachi
showed that mix and match is really cool. Anything goes
with long kurtas- churidars, full-length skirts and jeans.
The comfortable kaftan gets re-invented as a kaftan-style
jeans top and colourful or printed kaftan-style kurtas
with a V or deep neckline are the flavour of the season.

Young designer Varun Bahl showed the way with showing
layered skirts made of chiffon, silk, velvet and mesh-
all in one garment. Chiffons continue to be the popular
choice of fabric for designers. As designers Shantanu
and Nikhil echo: "They best convey strength and freedom."
|
Go for flared mid-length skirts in fruity colors or get
into long skirts in crushed or crinkled cotton. Skirts
with asymmetrical hemlines are also in. |

All thanks to designing sensation Manish Arora. Go for
big, beautiful bags with your icon's caricature or your
own favourite photo print. They serve as convenient dump
for all your things and yet look very classy and cool.

Narrow cut, slim fit trousers are the big thing this
year. Designer Narendra Kumar did them best in his prêt
collection, Chai. What's out though is the boot cut.
Designers say that well-fitted pants are the order of
the season and the boot cut is not going to be seen
on the fashion savvy for a while.

Screen prints to hand prints - prints are everywhere this
year. Manish Arora's animated T-shirts and Monisha Jaisingh's
graffiti prints ruled the runway.

One-shoulder-off tops that combine stylish cuts with
some imaginative embroidery were seen both on and off
the ramp. "These tops have taken off well this
season," says Gill. "The shoulder blade is
one part of your anatomy that can be flaunted without
being self-conscious. It makes you feel sexy and feminine
at the same time," announces the fashion designer.
